UK Travel Agency Strachan Travel Enters Liquidation After 40 Years
UK Travel Agency Strachan Travel Goes Into Liquidation

A long-established UK travel agency has entered voluntary liquidation after more than 40 years in business, leaving customers facing uncertainty about their booked holidays. Strachan Travel Ltd, based in Lancashire, has formally entered voluntary liquidation, with all holiday packages understood to have been cancelled.

Company Background and Liquidation Details

The company, which was incorporated in 1983, passed resolutions to wind up the business on June 11, with joint liquidators officially appointed on June 16, according to documents published in The Gazette. The notice states "that the Company be wound up voluntarily and that Richard Ian Williamson and Francesca Vivace, both of Campbell, Crossley & Davis, be appointed as Joint Liquidators for the purposes of such voluntary winding up."

The travel firm has been trading for more than four decades and was originally incorporated under the name Quintglobe Ltd, according to Companies House records. In its most recent financial statements, the business reported employing four members of staff.

Impact on Customers

The company's website appears to have gone offline following the liquidation, raising concerns among customers who may have booked upcoming trips through the agency. Travellers affected by the collapse may still be able to recover money depending on how their holiday was paid for and what protections were in place at the time of booking.

A spokesperson for the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) said consumers who have encountered problems should first complain to the appointed representative or principal firm involved. They added: "You may also be able to then complain against the principal to the Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS), or claim from the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) if the principal firm has gone out of business owing you money."

The FCA also confirmed: "This firm is no longer registered with the FCA as an Appointed Representative of an authorised firm, and can no longer carry on regulated activities."

Advice for Affected Customers

Customers who believe they may be affected are being urged to gather booking documents, payment records and correspondence relating to their holiday arrangements while seeking advice on potential claims.
