A British holidaymaker described the "carnage" at his hotel where he says guests have been battling to secure sun loungers as early as 6am.
Edward Lawton, 58, said he saw chaotic scenes unfold by the pool at Globales Santa Lucia Hotel in Palma Nova, Mallorca during his break. According to the business owner, who is from Wesham, Lancashire, guests dashed to bag their sunbeds from 6am, two hours before the pool opens at the resort.
Guest Describes 'Absolute Carnage'
He said: "Work that one out. It was absolute carnage again this morning. There are no beds available at all."
Globales Santa Lucia Hotel is an adults-only resort on the sea in between the beaches of Son Matias and Palmanova. TUI offers package holidays at the hotel, which has more than 300 rooms.
Only 130 Sunbeds for 170 Guests
Edward, who is CEO and founder of his own company, claimed he did not get involved in the sunbed wars himself. Instead, the Brit decided to watch on from the sidelines, where he would see people queuing up for hours for the prime slots.
He said: "It's absolute mayhem. As soon as the doors open at 8.00am, because they're on a timer, everybody runs."
"It's like a mad dash to grab the sunbeds. They're throwing their belongings onto them, there's pushing and shoving, and they're just grabbing everything. It's very, very competitive."
All Beds Claimed Within Five Minutes
Images show how every single bed was claimed within just five minutes. Edward added: "People walk away with smug looks on their faces because they've managed to get one."
"I was an observer from the side lines because I was just laughing. I thought the hotel should have a better policy on this because it's absolutely crazy."
"I couldn't believe that people are queuing up on their holidays from 6am in the morning, with their bags. They're standing there with pots of coffee around, as you'll see in the videos, just to get a sunbed."

The Mirror has approached Globales Santa Lucia Hotel for comment.
