A Ryanair flight from Tenerife to London Stansted was thrown into chaos after a drunken stag party brawl erupted on the tarmac, forcing airport staff to intervene.
Shocking footage shows at least four men trading punches and wrestling on the runway as horrified passengers watched from the aircraft. The violent altercation reportedly began when members of the stag group became aggressive after being told to stop drinking onboard.
Flight Delayed as Security Steps In
Airport security personnel rushed to separate the fighting passengers, with the melee delaying departure by over an hour. Witnesses described scenes of "absolute carnage" as the intoxicated men continued shouting and shoving even after being pulled apart.
"It was like something from a movie," one passenger told reporters. "These lads were completely out of control - swinging at each other, falling over luggage. The cabin crew looked terrified."
Increasing Problem of Air Rage
The incident highlights growing concerns about drunken behaviour on budget flights. Aviation experts warn that excessive pre-flight drinking, particularly among holidaymakers and stag/hen parties, has led to a sharp rise in mid-air disturbances.
Ryanair has repeatedly called for stricter limits on airport alcohol sales. A spokesperson said: "We condemn this unacceptable behaviour and are assisting authorities with their investigation."
The flight eventually departed after the most disruptive passengers were removed. Police at Tenerife South Airport confirmed they were reviewing CCTV footage and may pursue charges.
