Former Manchester United and Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi believes Everton's Hill Dickinson Stadium would be a good landing spot for Marcus Rashford.
Rossi backs Rashford for Everton move
Rossi, who made 30 appearances for Italy, knows all about resurrecting a career after leaving Old Trafford. He burst onto the scene in 2004 after signing from Parma, scoring four goals in 14 matches before moving to Spain. He went on to become Villarreal's all-time top scorer across a six-year stint that was hindered by two ACL injuries, before spells elsewhere, including at Fiorentina and Levante. He retired in 2023 at the age of 36.
Rossi, who initially turned to commentary after his retirement, has been sharing his thoughts on the future of Rashford, who spent last season on loan with Barcelona and whose next step is uncertain after his return to Manchester United. He believes Everton could be a good fit for the 28-year-old.
Blues tracking Grealish as alternative
The Blues could yet move for a big name on the left - CEO Angus Kinnear this week confirmed the club is still tracking developments over Jack Grealish, who spent last season on loan on Merseyside but who was brought on for Manchester City's Community Shield defeat to Arsenal at the weekend. For Rossi, David Moyes could benefit from moving for an alternative wide option down the East Lancs.
Rossi told the website Bet Brothers: "Marcus Rashford needs to go to another club for his own sake. I think his time as a Manchester United player has run its course. It's very interesting that Barcelona didn't keep him because I thought he was a pretty good player for them, and a good fit for how they play in the end."
Rashford's future uncertain after Barcelona loan
Rossi added: "I don't think he feels like a Manchester United player anymore, he doesn't have that mentality, and you don't want those sorts of players around your club, bringing down what you're trying to build. It would be the best thing for everyone if they could all move on quickly this summer.
"Could Rashford go and reinvent himself in Italy as Scott McTominay has? It's an interesting idea but I don't see him thriving in Serie A. The league is too tactical. I think Rashford still fits the English way of playing best, although truthfully he did well at Barcelona.
"He needs a move to another Premier League club this summer, and it would be cool to see him at a side like Tottenham Hotspur or Everton. He needs a club where he'll be given the chance to feel free to play his way and bring the team back some glory. He would do well in that sort of environment."
