PortAventura World, the popular Spanish theme park located near Barcelona, is set to expand with two brand-new themed zones, offering visitors more water, jungle, and thrills. The park, already one of the largest in Europe, is a favorite among British tourists due to its proximity to popular holiday resorts and just over two hours flight from the UK.
Coral Bay: A New Water Area
The expansion includes Coral Bay, La Leyenda Perdida (The Lost Legend), a new family water area within the Caribe Aquatic Park. This zone, inspired by a sunken ancient pirate bay rising from the sea, will cover over 6,000 square meters. Its highlight is Cyclone, Europe's first water coaster and only the second of its kind globally. Additionally, Bahía Pirata offers a multi-adventure pool, while The Crab features a multi-slide tower with five different routes. Younger visitors can enjoy Splash Port, a colorful interactive water zone. A new theme restaurant and rest areas will also be added.
Makamanu Jungle: An Adventure Trek
In PortAventura Park, the Polynesia land will be transformed into Makamanu Jungle, The Adventure Trek. This open-air family adventure experience features a 135-meter trail with elevated paths, rope tunnels, bridges, and high-level structures integrated into the existing landscape, resembling an ancient volcanic quarry. The trek includes 18 elevated treehouse-style cabins, 20 rope tunnels, three net ladders, four slides, and a large four-storey central structure with varying levels of adventure.
Opening and Other UK Theme Park News
Both new experiences are expected to open to the public this summer, though no official date has been confirmed. Meanwhile, UK theme parks are also introducing new attractions for 2026. Paultons Park recently opened Valgard: Realm of the Vikings, a Viking-themed area with three rides. Chessington's World of PAW Patrol has become a hit. Additionally, Universal's upcoming UK theme park has been officially named Universal United Kingdom Resort, with details of themed lands still under wraps.
