Petworth in West Sussex has become a popular destination for those who enjoy browsing antique shops and bookstores, and it sits right on the edge of South Downs National Park. The town is reported to be the only place outside of London where visitors can find over 30 art and antique dealers within a single-mile radius.
A thriving high street of independent shops

For those who enjoy thrifting, there are over 30 antique dealers along the high street, offering everything from limited edition books to eye-catching furniture and decor. The bulk of dealers can be found at Petworth Antiques Market.

History at Petworth House
History fans can visit the National Trust site of Petworth House, a 17th century property home to a fine art collection displayed across its state rooms, including artwork by Van Dyck and Turner. One highlight is the earliest English globe in existence, dating to 1592.
