Michelin Guide praises new restaurant at Andy Murray's hotel
Michelin Guide praises Andy Murray hotel restaurant

The Garden Room, a restaurant at Andy and Kim Murray's Cromlix Hotel in Dunblane, has been recommended by the Michelin Guide just six months after opening.

The restaurant opened in May 2026 following a major refurbishment of the hotel, and it has now received the recognition alongside sister restaurant Cradle, which was given the same accolade two months earlier.

A Family Kitchen Feel at a Five-Star Hotel

The Garden Room offers guests a comfortable setting for breakfast, lunch and dinner, using local ingredients in its dishes. The restaurant is said to bring the warmth of a family kitchen to a five-star hotel.

Sharing the news on social media, Cromlix Hotel wrote: "A little news for The Garden Room: we've just been added to the @michelinguide as a recommended restaurant!"

The hotel added: "Framed by views across the sweeping front lawn, it's a relaxed setting to enjoy thoughtful Scottish cooking, shaped by the kitchen garden and trusted local producers."

Michelin Guide's Praise

The Michelin Guide described The Garden Room as an "inspectors favourite", praising it for bringing a more casual feel to the heritage of the main hotel building.

It wrote: "Filled with natural light, it has a contemporary brasserie look and feels perfect for the modern-day country house. The menu is big on Scottish produce and grilled dishes to share, while there's a good value set lunch too."

The guide also noted: "The likes of North Atlantic cod with peas and buttered new potatoes are free of fuss and frippery – but the well-versed, personable team still create a sense of occasion."

Channel 4 Series Following the Hotel

The recognition comes as Channel 4 prepares to air a new three-part series titled Our Scottish Hotel, which follows Andy and Kim Murray as they transform the Dunblane hotel. The couple first bought the estate in 2013 and have been upgrading it ever since.

The show, filmed for almost an entire year, will follow the couple and their 80-strong team as the hotel enters its most ambitious chapter yet. Kim said: "The last couple of years have been really full of change at Cromlix with a huge building project and a totally new direction for fine dining and wellness, and I was really keen to document that as there were so many personal stories and interesting discoveries along the way."

Kim also said working with her husband was "fascinating", adding: "Andy and I haven't worked on anything together before, so that was a fascinating process - and a learning curve! I've loved shaping this building and estate into what's now become a really thriving and much-loved Scottish business." An air date for the show has yet to be officially announced.
