Highlands village named Scotland's answer to Positano

Plockton, a village in Wester Ross, has been named Scotland's answer to Positano, the colourful Italian coastal town on the Amalfi Coast. The designation comes from ScotRail's newly launched Intae-Rail guide, which pairs iconic European hotspots with some of Scotland's most spectacular rail destinations.

ScotRail's Intae-Rail guide

Inspired by the popular Interrail experience, the transport company is urging Scots and visitors to explore what Scotland has to offer. There are five guides available, covering exploring, food and drink, sightseeing and adventure, each featuring the Scottish equivalent of hotspots from across Europe.

For those wanting to visit the colourful streets of the Amalfi Coast, Scotland's Positano can be found in Plockton, Wester Ross. ScotRail said: "Arrive by rail into Plockton on the scenic Kyle Line and wander down towards one of the Highlands' most picture-perfect villages."
