New Era Travel, a coach tour operator based in Alresford, Hampshire, has ceased trading and entered liquidation, leaving customers with cancelled day trips. The company, which opened in 2022, offered holidays including coach tours from Alresford, Fareham, and Wickham.
A notice on the firm's office door stated that all coach day trips are cancelled. The company's full message read: 'With deep regret, we must inform you that New Era Travel has ceased trading and is in the process of liquidation.' It added that ABTA-protected bookings would proceed as planned.
The collapse follows a string of failures in the travel industry. Last month, Icelandic budget airline Fly PLAY ceased operations, cancelling all flights. This led to the closure of Tango Travel, a tour operator that relied on Fly PLAY flights.
Additionally, Visit Cornwall, the official tourist board for Cornwall, entered voluntary liquidation last month due to 'insurmountable financial problems', according to a spokesperson.
