A TikTok video has hailed a Welsh forest as the "best forest walk" in the UK, drawing attention to Hafren forest in Powys. The 40-square-kilometre woodland, six miles west of Llanidloes, offers multiple routes from a short 0.6-mile accessible boardwalk to a strenuous 8.1-mile trail to the source of the River Severn.

The forest, managed by Natural Resources Wales, boasts walks for all ages and fitness levels. The shortest route follows a riverbank with cascading waterfalls. Longer routes range up to 3.8 miles, but the challenging Source of the Severn Trail takes around five hours, passing a standing stone, mine remains, and a farmstead. Wildlife enthusiasts can spot nesting ospreys near Llyn Clywedog reservoir, though the birds return to Africa in late August.
