Mediterranean & Canary Islands Warmth

Also departing November 19 is the Mediterranean & Canary Islands Warmth, a 21-night adventure from Piraeus. Priced from £2,399 per person, it includes a half-price flight from London or Manchester at the start. Canaries Escape with the Fleet Fiesta

The Canaries Escape with the Fleet Fiesta begins in Santa Cruz de Tenerife on November 30 for a 10-night tour of the Canary Islands and Portugal. This is the first time since 2023 that the cruise line has brought its three ships – Bolette, Borealis and Balmoral – together. The occasion promises "exciting celebrations" with games, a treasure hunt, live music and performances. Two other holidays coincide with this reunion: the Spain & Morocco Fleet Fiesta from Liverpool (16 nights on Bolette) and the Canary Islands Fleet Fiesta from Southampton (15 nights on Borealis).

Ambassador Cruise Line has slashed prices on selected holidays, including the Delights of Western France & Spain Explorer, a nine-night trip from Bristol Royal Portbury to five ports in France and Spain this November, with 15% off bookings until August 11, from £527 per person. Also on offer is the Norway's Land of the Northern Lights getaway, from £1,376 per person for 17 nights in November, with onboard credit up to £400 and a free Northern Lights experience worth £99.

Passenger reviews

Fred Olsen holds a 4.6 out of five star rating on Trustpilot from nearly 15,000 reviews. One recent review reads: "A really enjoyable and interesting cruise. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. The entertainment was fantastic. The food in the restaurants and in the buffet was really good and the choice was excellent."

Another passenger wrote: "It was a fabulous cruise. Made special with the beautiful ship Bolette, the amazing food, the friendly helpful crew, great service, and the cleanliness of the ship. Would definitely recommend it."

A third praised: "We had a fabulous cruise on board Bolette which is a beautiful ship offering traditional service but never stuffy or overly formal. The inside cabin we had was perfect, always spotlessly clean and the beds the most comfortable I've had on a holiday!" They added: "The ship was spotless, pool areas stunning and viewing areas just amazing. I would recommend Fred Olsen to anyone. They are outstanding in every way!"

Another holidaymaker said: "Everything so well organised, from checking in to the service onboard, the superb food and amazing staff! My first cruise and I will definitely sail again with Fred Olsen!"

Some passengers were less impressed, with one complaining: "As a vegetarian / vegan there wasn't enough choice and variety." Another said: "The coffee which was available in the restaurants was very basic. We assumed that by going to the Bookstore, we would at least get premium-level coffee but all we got was milky coffee, nothing like a Café Nero / Costa Coffee experience."

The price of a Fred Olsen cruise includes full board dining with five-course à la carte dinners, daily casual dining, late night supper club and afternoon tea. The fare also covers access to swimming pools, fitness centre and classes, expert talks and lectures, and evening shows with live music and dancing.
