For the first time ever, the United Kingdom's largest outdoor waterpark is set to host a festive Christmas market, bringing seasonal cheer to the picturesque English Riviera in South Devon.
A Festive First for a Popular Attraction
Splashdown Quaywest, the UK's biggest outdoor waterpark located at Goodrington beach, will welcome visitors to its brand-new Christmas market on two weekends in December. The waterpark, which boasts 11 thrilling flume rides and a large play area for children, is normally closed during the winter months but is opening its doors for this special festive occasion.
The market will feature more than 30 stalls showcasing local crafts, perfect for finding unique gifts. Visitors can also enjoy a variety of seasonal treats and festive drinks, alongside fun-packed activities and entertainment designed for children.
Event Dates and Community Focus
The inaugural Christmas market will take place on Saturday, December 13 and Sunday, December 14, and again on the following weekend, Saturday, December 20 and Sunday, December 21. The market will be open from 11.30am until 6.30pm each day.
Joyfully, entry to the market will be completely free. This initiative is aimed at supporting local traders and bringing more vibrancy to the Goodrington area throughout the year.
Boosting Year-Round Vibrancy
Jackie Richmond, Group Marketing Director and co-owner of the waterpark, expressed her excitement about the new event. She stated that the team hopes this will be the first of many fun events held outside of the main waterpark season. The goal is to create a focus for the local community and visitors alike, fostering community spirit and holiday cheer in the desirable seaside location.
In addition to the main market weekends, the attraction will also host 'Festive Fridays'. On four consecutive Fridays starting November 28, and running through December 5, 12, and 19, the Quaywest Snack Shack will offer hot drinks and Bratwurst-style hot dogs from 4pm to 6pm.
This presents an ideal opportunity for a winter visit to the Devonshire coast. Visitors can enjoy the new market, take a brisk stroll along Goodrington beach, and explore nearby attractions like Paignton Beach and its classic pier, all while avoiding the typical summer crowds. The area is easily accessible, with Paignton train station just a short walk away and plenty of hotels along the coastline for those wishing to extend their stay.
