Australian Fashion Week is currently underway, with designers such as Carla Zampatti, Beare Park, and Maticevski presenting their latest collections. While front-row seats may be unattainable for many, recreating the runway beauty looks at home is entirely possible. Two of the industry's most renowned experts have shared their insider tips and the tools they rely on backstage.
Hair Styling Secrets from Madison Voloshin
Award-winning hair stylist Madison Voloshin has been working on some of Fashion Week's most anticipated shows, creating hairstyles that are sure to appear in TikTok GRWM videos and everyday routines. For the Carla Zampatti show on Monday evening, Madison used the Shark Glam Hot Tool Air Drying & Styling System to style all models' hair, including that of Australian IT model Shanina Shaik.
Madison praised the tool's versatility, noting that he 'can use the Shark Glam tool for so many hair types and textures, elevating hair across all looks.' He added, 'I love that it is so versatile. I can use it on any hair type which is crucial for my work, especially during Fashion Week. With the new Silki Ceramic Straightener attachment I can now straighten, wave or curl hair with one attachment.'
The Shark Glam is the brand's first multi-styler that can dry, curl, air straighten, and gloss hair, and it is effective on both dry and wet hair. As models walked the runway into a light shower, the tool proved useful for quick touch-ups to refine looks affected by the rain.
The Carla Zampatti creative team described the show as a 'celebration' and 'tribute to the incredible women' who have shaped the brand's legacy. They stated, 'Our Australian Fashion Week show is a celebration of the Carla Zampatti woman – self-assured, modern, and unapologetically confident. Set against the Sydney Harbour foreshore and the Opera House, the show reflects a bold sense of identity, vibrance, and creativity that feels distinctly Australian.'
Makeup Mastery with Isabella Schimid
An enduring beauty trend at Fashion Week has been minimal makeup, allowing natural complexions to shine. Renowned makeup artist Isabella Schimid, who has worked with Gemma Ward, Jessica Gomes, Victoria Lee, and Nicole Warne, is a master of this look. As Shark Skin Director, she led the runway beauty looks for Carla Zampatti, emphasizing that preparation is key.
Isabella used the Shark CryoGlow LED Face Mask on models to improve skin radiance before applying makeup. She explained, 'For the Carla Zampatti runway, the skin is polished and balmy with an elegant, luxurious finish, paired with a softly contoured, sophisticated eye that feels true to the CZ woman.' She added, 'I start by prepping the skin with the Shark CryoGlow LED Face Mask, using its cooling effect to refine and even the complexion, creating a smooth, luminous base.'
From there, Isabella focuses on balance, using a defined, matte lip pressed in as if applied by hand to keep the overall look refined and modern. The Shark hair and beauty team also created looks for designers including Mariam Saddiq, Commas, Hansen & Gretel, and Alix Higgins.
Madison revealed that the standout hair trend backstage in 2026 is 'soft textured hair.' For the Commas presentation, he led the team in creating a beachy, natural texture, working with each model's natural hair to achieve a look that appears as though they have stepped out of salty water and sun-dried their hair.
