'Fairytale' UK Seaside Town Shanklin Described as 'Like a Postcard'
Fairytale UK Seaside Town Shanklin Like a Postcard

Shanklin, a traditional seaside resort on the southeast coast of the Isle of Wight, has been described as 'like a fairytale' and 'like a postcard' by visitors and influencers. The town is renowned for its golden sandy beaches, striking sandstone cliffs, and the historic thatched-roof Old Village.

Beach and Esplanade Attractions

Shanklin Beach and The Esplanade offer a sweeping, family-friendly expanse of golden sand. The Esplanade is lined with seaside entertainment, classic fish and chip shops, water sports, and numerous crazy golf courses, including pirate and dinosaur themes.

The Cliff Lift, in operation since 1957, provides a scenic descent from the clifftop to the beach, avoiding the steep walk. Shanklin Chine, the island's oldest visitor attraction dating back to 1817, features a verdant wooded ravine with waterfalls, jungle-like pathways, and an illuminated evening light display.

Online travel influencer Reiko, known as @heyreiko on Instagram, recommended the town to her 39,100 followers. She posted footage and wrote: 'Why does no one talk about this fairytale town tucked away on the Isle of Wight? Shanklin... or as it feels when you're here, somewhere between a dream and a postcard you swear you've stepped inside.' She added: 'If you ever needed a sign to disappear for a while and find a little pocket of peace that feels unreal... this is it.'
