easyJet has launched four new services from Newcastle International Airport, offering holidaymakers direct flights to Reus, Tenerife, Prague and Sharm el-Sheikh. The new routes took off this week, expanding the airline's network from the North East airport.
New routes and schedules
Flights to Reus and Tenerife began on Saturday, August 1, operating twice a week on Wednesdays and Saturdays. Reus, the birthplace of Gaudi and a gateway to the Costa Dorada, is popular for city breaks, while Tenerife, the largest of the Canary Islands, offers beaches and diverse landscapes for relaxation or adventure.
Prague flights started on Sunday, August 2, with twice-weekly services on Thursdays and Sundays, ideal for long weekends in the historic Czech capital. Sharm el-Sheikh flights launched on Monday, August 3, operating on Mondays and Fridays, providing access to the Red Sea resort destination.
Expansion and package deals
The launch follows easyJet's announcement of five new winter routes from Newcastle to Barcelona, Berlin, Copenhagen, Hurghada and Rovaniemi. Package holidays are available through easyJet holidays, including flights, hotel, 23kg luggage and transfers on Tenerife and Sharm el-Sheikh beach holidays. The operator is offering savings of up to £700 on packages departing before October 2027, with low deposits of £60 per person and Ultimate Flexibility benefits.
Kevin Doyle, easyJet's UK country manager, said: "We delighted to be offering customers in the North East four new direct routes from Newcastle to Reus, Tenerife, Prague, and Sharm el-Sheikh with the launch of our flights this week. From sun-sure beach getaways in Sharm el-Sheikh and Tenerife, to heritage-filled city breaks in Prague and Reus, there’s something for everyone."
Airport growth and winter plans
Leon McQuaid, director of aviation development at Newcastle Airport, noted the milestone: "The launch of easyJet’s new routes to Prague, Reus, Sharm El Sheikh and Tenerife marks another significant milestone in the airline’s continued growth at Newcastle Airport following the opening of its new base in March." He added that easyJet has more than quadrupled its network to 31 destinations and that the airport expects over 1.4 million passengers this summer.
Seats on the new routes are available from £28.99 one way per person including taxes, bookable at easyJet.com and via the mobile app.
