A cruise passenger has taken to Reddit to complain about loud poolside music disrupting their holiday. The guest said the volume was so high it prevented them from eating outside or relaxing with a book.
Another passenger reported that on one ship, a loop of dubstep and drum and bass music was 'blaring' by the pool, even when the waterslide was not operating. They tried negotiating with guest services to turn it off, but were told it was beyond their capability.
One guest said that in every common area, the music was so loud that casual conversation was impossible, requiring yelling directly into someone's ear. They described the experience as 'disgusting and unenjoyable' and noted their complaint in the post-cruise survey.
However, some passengers argued that without ship-provided music, guests might play their own portable speakers, subjecting others to their personal music choices. Cruise lines have varying policies on music volume, and passengers who prefer quiet might consider river cruises, which typically do not play music outside of nightclubs or bars.
