A Croatian village has reclaimed a Guinness World Record by baking a line of nearly 9,000 strudels stretching more than three kilometres. The achievement took place in Jaškovo, a small village 66km south-west of Zagreb, during its traditional Strudelfest.
Organisers said two tonnes of flour and three tonnes of apples were used to create the world's longest line of strudels. Guinness World Records adjudicator Paulina Sapinska confirmed the total of 8,940 strudels, marking a new record.
Jaškovo previously held the record a decade ago with a 1,479-metre line, but lost it in 2019 to the Croatian town of Sisak, which assembled a line of nearly 6,000 strudels stretching more than 1,762 metres.
Regional mayor Martina Furdek Hajdin said the strudel is a symbol linked with local tradition and that such events boost rural development. The strudels, made following a regional recipe, were laid in line by locals and volunteers.
Monika Ivis, one of several thousand visitors, praised the effort, saying the strudels taste "super". All the strudels will be donated to institutions, organisations and people in need.
