Chessington World of Adventures Resort closed abruptly today following a reported parkwide evacuation. The theme park, located about 12 miles south west of London, announced the closure in an Instagram story.
The statement said: “Chessington World of Adventures Resort is currently closed. Guests due to visit today are advised that tickets are being accepted at LEGOLAND Windsor or alternatively, you can contact our Customer Services team after 2pm today. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and will provide a further update as soon as possible.”
Evacuation Confirmed
Chessington Buzz, a social media account that covers the theme park, reported a “parkwide evacuation” and noted the attendance of emergency services. In a post on X, the account said: “We're aware there is a parkwide evacuation of Chessington currently and, as is often standard, the attendance of emergency services. Please listen to staff instructions if on the park/hotels. Let the teams do their jobs.”
Road Closure and Advice
The A243 Leatherhead Road, where the park is situated, was briefly closed in both directions between the B280 Fairoak Lane and Barwell Business Park. Visitors currently on the park or in the hotels were advised to follow staff instructions while the situation is assessed.
The resort has not yet provided further details on the cause of the closure or when it may reopen. Guests with tickets for today are being directed to LEGOLAND Windsor or to contact customer services after 2pm for assistance.
