Center Parcs Eliminates Beloved Crèche Service Across All Resorts
Center Parcs customers have expressed deep disappointment, with some stating they "could cry", following the holiday park chain's decision to discontinue its popular crèche service. The company confirmed it will no longer offer childcare for children aged between three months and three years from the end of May, affecting all its UK sites.
End of an Era for Family Childcare
By late May, visitors will lose the option to pay approximately £30 for a three-hour crèche session, a service that has been a staple for many families seeking brief respite during their breaks. A spokesperson for Center Parcs explained the move, stating: "At Center Parcs, we’re always looking to review and evolve the guest experience. We have made the decision to remove the crèche activity from our breaks, to reflect guest feedback and limited demand for this particular activity."
The crèche was one of over 20 activities available in the Activity Den, with the company assuring that other offerings will continue normally. They emphasized a shift toward developing new activities for children of all ages, aiming to create more engaging family experiences.
Customer Reactions and Emotional Responses
The announcement has sparked a wave of criticism from parents, particularly those with upcoming bookings. One parent shared on a Center Parcs Facebook page: "We go to Longleat for a week in June... I had planned to book a much-needed child-free trip to the spa with my husband... However, the crèche is unavailable for booking?? I could cry."
Another long-time customer lamented: "We've been to Center Parcs loads of times over the years and the crèche is such a godsend." Prior to its closure, the crèche was described as a colourful, interactive environment where children participated in structured activities guided by experienced carers, with sessions lasting 120 to 180 minutes.
Background and Future Developments
The crèche service, available at all villages, was praised by some customers for its friendly and professional staff. Meanwhile, Center Parcs is progressing with other ventures, including a new £450 million site in the Scottish Borders. This development is expected to generate around 1,200 jobs and will feature:
- 700 lodges and flats
- A Subtropical Swimming Paradise
- Retail outlets and dining venues in the village hub
- An Aqua Sana Forest Spa nestled within woodland
The new forest will incorporate multiple tree species and diverse plant life, fostering a biodiverse environment rich in wildlife. Virtual tours and 3D renderings showcase numerous amenities positioned along the waterside, highlighting the chain's ongoing expansion despite the service cutbacks.
