Celebrity Xcel Cruise Ship Completes Sea Trials Ahead of Maiden Season

Celebrity Cruises has moved a step closer to welcoming passengers aboard its newest vessel, the Celebrity Xcel, after the ship successfully completed sea trials. The fifth ship in the Edge series finished its first ocean sailing last weekend, undergoing a series of manoeuvrability tests near the Chantiers de l'Atlantique shipyard in Saint-Nazaire, France, where it was built.

At 141,420 gross tonnes, the Celebrity Xcel matches the size of sister ships Ascent and Beyond, making it one of the largest in the Celebrity fleet. The vessel features 16 passenger decks, including the exclusive Retreat area for suite guests, and a pool and hot tub on Deck 14. Restaurants and a theatre occupy Decks 3, 4, and 5.

New amenities include the brand's first Hydra Room in the spa, a private deck with valet service at the Celebrity Pool Club, and an adult-only games room called Attic at The Club featuring retro games. The Bazaar on Deck 5 offers a performance space inspired by destinations, while Mediterranean restaurant Bora is located on Deck 15.
