A cat has survived a daring stowaway attempt after clinging to the wing of an ultra-light aircraft during a flight in French Guiana. The incident was captured on video by the pilot, Romain Jantot, who posted the footage on YouTube on Sunday.
The video shows the aircraft accelerating on the runway and taking off without any sign of the cat. However, about 38 seconds into the flight, the feline slowly creeps into view under the left wing, making its way towards the pilot and passenger. The cat is seen grasping the wing with its claws as the plane flies hundreds of feet above the ground.
Jantot, who is believed to be the pilot, said he was unaware of the cat's presence for about a minute. 'A standard flight until … I still don’t know if it got in after the pre-flight check or if I missed it,' he wrote in the video description. 'The cat is doing well, she is still our mascot.'
Upon noticing the stowaway, the pilot immediately began a descent and landed safely. He then rushed to lower the cat to the runway. The flight lasted approximately three minutes, and the cat leaped to safety after landing.
The video has garnered over 75,000 views since its upload. The incident occurred in Kourou, French Guiana, according to the pilot's description.
