Castelló de la Plana, a city in Spain's Valencia region, is being hailed as the 'new Barcelona' for its historic architecture, sandy beaches, and affordable flights from the UK. In March, temperatures reach a pleasant 20°C, making it an ideal spring getaway.

Ryanair operates flights from London-Stansted to Castelló de la Plana from just £15.66 one way, departing on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays. From June 1, seasonal flights from Manchester will also be available, expanding access for British travellers.

The city boasts a wealth of historic buildings, including the Castelló Co-Cathedral with its iconic El Fadrí bell tower. Visitors can climb the 200-step spiral staircase to the top for panoramic views. The Museo de Bellas Artes de Castellón houses works by Spanish masters in bright, open galleries.

The 2026 edition runs from July 16 to 18, featuring acts like The Prodigy, Biffy Clyro, and Kaiser Chiefs, with early bird tickets from €55.

Outdoor enthusiasts can explore over 400 hiking trails in the surrounding mountains, including the challenging Tossal Gros loop. The Port of Castelló de la Plana provides a scenic spot for an evening stroll, with shops and restaurants overlooking the water.
