British Mother Drowns On Corfu Holiday

A British mother tragically drowned in 'intense waves' while on holiday in Corfu, Greece, as her husband desperately tried to save her, an inquest has heard.

Emma Jane Slack, 54, a training advisor from Mold, Flintshire, was swimming in the sea off the resort of Roda on July 9 when she got into difficulty. Her husband Rob tried to rescue her but also encountered trouble.

Senior coroner John Gittins, for North Wales East and Central, said official documentation from Greek authorities cited 'intense wave activity' and gave the cause of death as drowning. The inquest, held in Ruthin, Denbighshire, was adjourned to a date to be fixed.
