A British tourist has died while on holiday in Bali after being pulled out to sea by a rip current. The 39-year-old man was swimming at Nyang-Nyang Beach when he was struck by a wave and swept away.
His body was discovered near the shore at Pecatu village at around 7.45am local time on Sunday, March 15. Two tourists were seen wading into the surf to retrieve the body.
Paramedics attended the scene but confirmed the man had died. His body was taken to Prof. Ngoerah General Hospital in Denpasar for examination. Authorities said the cause of death is still under investigation.
Nyoman Sidakarya, Head of the Denpasar Search and Rescue Office, confirmed that a multi-agency evacuation operation was conducted involving local police, lifeguards, and community members.
A Foreign Office spokesperson said: “We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Bali, Indonesia, and are in contact with the local authorities.”
