British Cyclist Killed in Suspected Deliberate Hit-and-Run in Tenerife

A British man has been killed in an alleged deliberate hit-and-run while cycling in Tenerife, with Spanish police investigating the incident as a possible murder. The victim, identified only as Harry, a Liverpool FC fan, was pronounced dead at the scene on Monday evening.

The alarm was raised around 8pm on the TF-652 road between Las Chafiras and the fishing village of Las Galletas in the municipality of Arona. Local reports described the incident as a hit-and-run, and island newspaper El Dia reported that the Civil Guard is investigating whether the man was murdered.

According to El Dia, after initial inquiries, officers reached the early conclusion that the victim was not run over by accident. Local police from Arona Town Hall handled the initial response but have now handed the case over to the Civil Guard, who could not be reached for comment.

A makeshift shrine with flowers, candles, and a photo of the deceased has been placed near the spot where he died. A Liverpool shirt was pinned to a palm tree, and a message in English read: 'I love you forever wee bro.' The victim is believed to have lived in Tenerife, although this has not been officially confirmed.

A regional emergency response coordination centre reported receiving calls just before 8.15pm on December 1, stating a man had been knocked off his bike by a car at kilometre six of the TF-652 road. Two ambulances were dispatched, but the victim's injuries were fatal.

One local newspaper initially described the victim as 25 years old, but his age and full name have not been officially released. The investigation is ongoing.
