Blackpool Cheapest UK Seaside Holiday in Europe for 2026

Blackpool has been named the most affordable UK seaside destination in a new study of the cheapest summer holiday spots in Europe for 2026. The Lancashire resort ranked ninth overall, the only British location in the top 10, according to research by credit card brand Aqua.

Cost of a Week in Blackpool

The study compared the cost of a week's stay for two adults in July across various destinations. While Albania topped the list with return flights at £100 and a total weekly cost of £381, Blackpool stood out for its low prices on local attractions (£31) and fuel (£35). The resort is just over an hour's drive from Liverpool and also accessible by train and coach.

Nearly half (47%) of Brits with travel plans are scaling back due to soaring flight costs, making budget-friendly options like Blackpool increasingly popular.

Blackpool offers numerous attractions, including the Sandcastle Waterpark, Blackpool Tower Ballroom, and The Blackpool Tower. However, Blackpool Pleasure Beach tops TripAdvisor with a 4-star rating based on 15,000 reviews. Unlimited-ride eTickets start at £31.50 for adults and £22.50 for children when booked online, compared to gate prices of up to £50. Booking at least seven days in advance can save up to £14 per ticket. A pay-as-you-ride option is also available, with individual tickets starting at £7.

One visitor commented on TripAdvisor: "An amazing day on the theme park with amazing rides, all the staff were friendly and helpful, great day all round, would recommend going." Another said: "Amazing friendly staff, always happy to help, amazing rides as well, can always have a great day at the Pleasure Beach."

A third reviewer noted: "We had a fantastic trip to Blackpool Pleasure Beach, which was enjoyed by all ages. Our youngest is just a toddler, and our oldest is a teenager, and they both had a great time. There is really something for everyone."

A fourth enthused: "Best day ever today! Jake and Jamie, who work on the Big One, you were right, it doesn't go upside down! Although we got wetter than we ever would have on Valhalla! All staff were great, facilities too. Can't wait to come back."

At the other end of the scale, London is the most expensive UK staycation destination, with accommodation costs of £1,133 per week for two adults, inexpensive meals at £20, and pints at £7. However, many attractions like the British Museum and National Gallery are free. Brighton ranks second, with the second-highest accommodation costs at £1,715 per week for two adults. Falmouth takes third, driven by steep accommodation costs of £1,501 per week.
