An American who recently moved to the UK has gone viral after sharing a video review of his disappointing trip to the beach in Weston-super-Mare. Nick Alexander, originally from Miami and now living in Wolverhampton, posted a series of clips on TikTok under the handle Mr Miami UK, documenting his attempt to go swimming in the Somerset seaside town.
In the videos, Mr Alexander said he was excited to make the most of the hot weather and compare Weston-super-Mare with the beaches of Miami. However, he found himself walking across 'mud' with the sea 'like 20 miles away'. Showing himself ankle-deep in sludge, he commented: 'I don't know who decided to call this place a beach but where I come from beaches don't look like this.'
He described the overall experience as an 'absolutely s*** day' and said he did not get to go swimming. The trip was partly rescued by a visit to a fun fair. He suggested that a path or bridge should be built to reach the water when the tide goes out, and said he was definitely going to Cornwall or Devon to find a better beach.
The clips have drawn more than 100,000 views, with social media users reacting to the brutal review. One person commented: 'Can only imagine how underwhelming this must be. We love our beaches in the UK.' Another said: 'Ah noo. You went to the wrong beach, I promise they are not all like that.' A third added: 'I actually laughed out loud, this is so accurate.'
