Parents looking to keep children entertained over the Easter holidays have been given a list of seven ‘fairytale’ theme parks and attractions, courtesy of Instagram account North East Family Days Out. The account, which has 70,000 followers, shared the destinations as “tried and tested” and “highly recommended”.
The list includes Efteling in the Netherlands, the largest theme park in the country, known for its enchanting fairytale atmosphere and Fairytale Forest, which opened in 1952. Stockeld Park in North Yorkshire is a 2,000-acre estate with indoor and outdoor play areas, while The Ice Cream Farm in Cheshire holds the Guinness World Record for the largest ice cream shop, offering over 50 flavours.
GreenWood Family Park in North Wales features the world’s only people-powered rollercoaster and the UK’s first solar-powered water slide. The Forbidden Corner in North Yorkshire is a four-acre maze-like garden with tunnels and hidden chambers, described as “the strangest place in the world”. Lilidorei in Northumberland houses the world’s largest play structure, a 26-metre-tall wooden structure called Elfwin Drin. Sundown Adventureland in Nottinghamshire is designed exclusively for children under ten, with gentle rides and interactive walk-throughs.
