Tottenham Agree £85m Deal for Man City's Savinho

Tottenham have agreed a deal worth up to £85m to sign Manchester City winger Savinho, as the club's summer spending spree surpasses £369m under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

The North London side are long-term admirers of the Brazilian winger, having failed to agree terms on a €50million (£43.3m) deal last summer. They have retained their interest in the 22-year-old and are now close to finally securing his services.

Record Fee for City

According to The Athletic, Spurs have agreed to pay £75m up-front for the former Troyes man, with £10m in potential bonuses. Should the deal go through as expected, it would represent a record sale for City, eclipsing the £81m sale of Julian Alvarez to Atletico Madrid in 2024.

Savinho would also become the latest high-profile departure from the Etihad Stadium this summer, with Tijjani Reijnders, Rodri, James Trafford, Nathan Ake, Bernardo Silva and John Stones having all left alongside former boss Pep Guardiola.

Marmoush Also Targeted

The sales might not even be finished there, either. Spurs are also in talks with City over a deal for Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush. A deal for both him and Savinho is expected to cost around £140m - meaning Marmoush is valued at around £55m.

The 27-year-old only joined City from Eintracht Frankfurt in January last year and has gone on to net 16 goals in 62 appearances. Meanwhile, Savinho joined the club from French side Troyes in 2024 but has only netted twice in 53 Premier League outings.

Spurs' Summer Rebuild

Once their moves to North London are complete, they will become the latest arrivals in what has been an astonishing £369m rebuild under De Zerbi. Spurs have already signed Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke for big fees, while Marcos Senesi, Andrew Robertson and Martin Dubravka have all joined on free transfers.

Spurs start their season against London rivals Brentford on Saturday evening, while Man City entertain Bournemouth on Sunday. Ahead of that game, City boss Enzo Maresca has already hinted that more signings could arrive before the deadline.

He said: "We knew already before the game the things that we need to do. It is not because we lost the game. We are quite clear. For sure, we are going to do something before the transfer window closes."

City have been linked with Lille star Ayyoub Bouaddi but the Italian remained tight-lipped on a deal. He added: "He is still a Lille player. But any new signing as soon as they arrive, it’s better [for us], because we have the Premier League starting in one week."
