His comments coincide with the release of fresh data demonstrating that Scottish technology founders have successfully secured a total of £257 million in investment since enrolling in Techscaler, the country's national tech scale-up programme.
Remarkable Investment Growth
The latest figures from Techscaler's annual report indicate a substantial increase of £139 million compared to the previous year, effectively more than doubling the investment raised. Government ministers view these statistics as clear evidence of their dedication to fostering a world-class technology environment within Scotland.

During a visit to Techscaler's newly established site in Dundee, Mr Swinney emphasised that the programme was specifically designed to reinforce Scotland's entrepreneurial landscape. He highlighted that the initiative provides technology founders with essential skills, comprehensive support, and valuable connections necessary to develop companies that can compete on a global scale.
The First Minister remarked: 'It is encouraging to see this vision reflected in this year's results, with a remarkable £257 million now raised by founder members since launch, more than double the previous year. This figure highlights Scotland's entrepreneurial ecosystem is becoming even more connected, collaborative and globally engaged – raising Scotland's profile as an ambitious innovation nation.'
New Hub in Dundee
Mr Swinney also noted that the new base located at Dundee's Water's Edge is poised to transform into a vibrant hub for entrepreneurs within the city, further enhancing local innovation efforts.
National Impact and Future Goals
Jon Hope, the interim chief executive officer of the growth platform CodeBase, commented that the report underscores Techscaler's growing national impact. He stated they are actively working to accelerate high-growth businesses toward achieving global success.
Mr Hope explained: 'From our Water's Edge office, we'll be proud to support cohorts of early-stage, growth and scale-up companies, providing access to local and national expertise — including entrepreneurs in residence, experienced mentors, investor networks and international connections.'
