Microsoft has unveiled the Surface Laptop Ultra, a new flagship laptop designed to rival Apple's MacBook Pro. Powered by NVIDIA's latest RTX Spark Superchip, this PC is described as the fastest and most powerful ever built, capable of handling demanding workflows and ready for the AI future.
Power and Performance
Designed around NVIDIA RTX Spark, the Surface Laptop Ultra combines an NVIDIA Blackwell RTX GPU with up to 6,144 cores, an NVIDIA Grace CPU with up to 20 cores, and up to 128 GB of unified memory. This configuration makes it an ultimate powerhouse for those requiring top-tier performance.
Magnetic Connect Port
Beyond raw power, the Ultra introduces a new port called Magnetic Connect, the world's first built-in magnetic USB-C charging on a laptop. Similar to Apple's MagSafe, it disconnects if the charging cable is tugged. However, Microsoft claims an advantage: the Magnetic Connect USB port is not just for charging but can also be used as a standard socket for accessories and other devices.
Display and Additional Features
Other features include a 15-inch PixelSense Ultra touchscreen, described as the brightest and sharpest to appear in a Surface device. Microsoft says it delivers the brightest peak HDR of any laptop, up to 25 percent brighter than the MacBook Pro M5. Colour accuracy has also been enhanced, making it ideal for content creators.
The device also features a backlit keyboard, a larger haptic trackpad, and can drive up to three 4K displays for improved productivity. Internal storage is user-removable, allowing for upgrades, replacement, or securing with personal storage.
The Surface Laptop Ultra is available in Platinum and Nightfall colours, priced at £2,599.
