Rangers to End Raith Deal, Queen's Park in Pole Position

Rangers are set to terminate their cooperation agreement with Raith Rovers after just one season, with Queen's Park emerging as the frontrunners to replace them as the Ibrox side's loan partner in the Scottish Championship.

Talks Underway with Queen's Park

The Govan club has held discussions with Queen's Park about striking up a co-operation agreement for the upcoming season. The Spiders are currently in pole position, though Morton has also approached Rangers with a view to securing a tie-in. Rangers are now weighing up their options as they seek to provide their young talents with the highest possible level of competitive football.

Success with Alloa Athletic

Rangers will maintain their existing cooperation agreement with Alloa Athletic in League One. That partnership has proven highly successful, with Calum Adamson, Josh Gentles, and Lewis Stewart all impressing during loan spells with the Wasps. Callum Burnside also had a loan spell at Alloa, though that was outside the formal cooperation agreement. The quartet helped Alloa reach the League One play-offs.

Looking ahead, Rangers are planning to send young players Kyle Glasgow and Max Cameron to Recreation Park this season to continue the fruitful relationship.

Raith Rovers Agreement Ends

Rangers initially sent Josh Gentles to Raith Rovers under the cooperation agreement, but he was unable to make a significant impact. In fact, Gentles was the only young player to move between the clubs via that agreement. Raith did have Paul Nsio on a normal loan from Rangers, and he performed well. However, Rangers have since decided to explore other club options away from Starks Park.

Other young Rangers players, including Alexander Smith, who impressed at Dumbarton, were also sent out on normal loans last season.
