The pacing barely slows down, the machine combat is intense, and Alan Ritchson absolutely fits this kind of role perfectly.' Another five-star review gushed: 'Combine Predator and War of the Worlds, and you will get this amazing movie! The story was incredibly gripping and intense, and the war machine itself was very threatening and looked awesome.'

Plot and Sequel Details

War Machine follows a squad of recruits in the closing phases of US Army Ranger Selection. When their training mission goes catastrophically wrong, they are left battling for survival against an extraterrestrial war machine. The original film concluded with the machine being vanquished after being lured into a quarry ambush. However, a news bulletin hints at an impending alien invasion following the discovery of numerous pods—resembling the one housing the deadly robot—scattered across the globe, indicating many more alien machines to come. The bulletin also revealed that thousands of additional pods were en route to Earth, necessitating a worldwide defensive strategy.

Netflix has confirmed that the sequel will bring back leading man Alan Ritchson alongside director Patrick Hughes. Hughes, whose previous credits include The Hitman's Bodyguard and The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard, will co-write the screenplay with James Beaufort. According to Variety, details surrounding the storyline remain under wraps. War Machine is available to stream on Netflix now.
