Cristian Orozco, a Colombian midfielder compared to Chelsea's Moises Caicedo, is in Manchester to undergo a medical and finalise his move to Manchester United. The 17-year-old will officially join on July 13, his 18th birthday, having agreed a deal with Fortaleza CEIF last September. United are acting swiftly, bringing Orozco and chief scout Giuseppe Antonaccio to the city this weekend to begin acclimatisation. He is expected to initially join the under-21 squad, though first-team opportunities in the Carabao Cup are possible as manager Michael Carrick rotates for Champions League commitments.
United Approach Felix Nmecha
Manchester United have made contact with Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha, according to Sky Germany. The 25-year-old World Cup star, who has impressed in North America this summer, has a £75.5 million buyout clause in his contract, which still has four years remaining. United face competition from Newcastle United, who are reportedly trying to reduce the asking price. Nmecha is open to a Premier League move and is the younger brother of Leeds United forward Lukas Nmecha. His immediate focus remains on the World Cup, where Germany face Paraguay in the last 32 after topping Group E.
Midfield Reinforcements and Departures
United are also battling Tottenham for West Ham's Mateus Fernandes and have been linked with Newcastle's Sandro Tonali. However, target Elliot Anderson has chosen to join Manchester City. On the outgoing front, goalkeeper Andre Onana is set to extend his loan at Trabzonspor, with the Turkish club covering his wages and paying a loan fee. Casemiro has already left after his contract expired. Carrick is determined to improve on last season's third-place finish and make an impact in the Champions League.
