Jaecoo 7 Expands with Black Luxury Edition and New Full-Hybrid Model
Jaecoo is strengthening its position in the UK automotive market with an expanded lineup for the Jaecoo 7 SUV, highlighted by the introduction of a new Black Luxury edition and a first-ever full-hybrid variant. The brand, which has seen significant success since its launch, continues to offer premium styling and competitive pricing to attract buyers.
Black Luxury Edition: Premium Styling at a Lower Price
The Jaecoo 7 SHS-P Black Luxury edition serves as the range-topping plug-in hybrid model, priced from £36,500. This version features a comprehensive blacked-out design, including a black grille, black badging, black mirrors, black roof, black wheels, and black roof rails. Inside, the theme continues with a black headliner and sun visors, and even the 'Luxury' badge on the C-pillar receives the same treatment.
This approach follows a well-established trend among premium brands, such as Audi's Black Edition trims, BMW's Shadowline packages, and Mercedes' Night Editions. Notably, the Jaecoo 7 has drawn comparisons to Range Rover models due to its upright stance and clean proportions, and the Black Luxury edition reinforces this visual link while offering a more affordable alternative.
Mechanical Details and Performance
Under the hood, the Black Luxury model retains Jaecoo's existing plug-in hybrid setup, part of the Super Hybrid System (SHS) developed by parent company Chery. Badged as SHS-P, it remains mechanically unchanged, with a claimed combined range of 700 miles, emphasizing design over performance upgrades.
Introduction of Full-Hybrid Variant
Alongside the Black Luxury edition, Jaecoo is launching a new full-hybrid variant, the Jaecoo 7 SHS-H. This model uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a self-charging hybrid system, producing 224bhp and offering claimed fuel economy of up to 53mpg. Two trims will be available: Pure and Deluxe, with prices starting from £29,195.
Even the entry-level Pure trim comes equipped with a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone connectivity, dual-zone climate control, and a refrigerated centre console. The Deluxe trim adds eco-leather upholstery, a larger 14.8-inch screen, and an upgraded sound system, providing enhanced comfort and technology features.
Market Success and Future Availability
Jaecoo has recorded over 35,000 registrations in the UK since its launch, with the Jaecoo 7 proving particularly popular and even breaking into the top five best-selling cars in February 2026. Victor Zhang, managing director of Jaecoo UK, stated, "After such a strong first year, it's crucial that we keep evolving. The Jaecoo 7 SHS-P Black Luxury gives our customers even more visual impact and exclusivity, while the full-hybrid SHS-H opens electrified performance at an extremely competitive price point."
Both the Black Luxury plug-in hybrid and the new full-hybrid model will be available to order from May 2026, with all versions covered by a seven-year, 100,000-mile warranty, ensuring long-term reliability and customer confidence.
