Harry Kane rules out Premier League return with Bayern future

Harry Kane has stated that the desire to return to the Premier League has faded, ending speculation about a potential move back to England. The 33-year-old England captain, who joined Bayern Munich for £100m in 2023, had been linked with a return to break Alan Shearer's all-time scoring record.

Kane's change of heart

Speaking after winning the European Golden Shoe, Kane said: "When I first left [Spurs in 2023], for sure it was something that I thought I'd definitely be coming back. That itch isn't there as much any more." He added: "I'm extremely happy here in Munich. It's opened my eyes to a totally different world of football outside of England. It's made me appreciate European football even more."

Kane emphasized his contentment with the team and manager Vincent Kompany, noting that his family is settled in Munich. "I never say never but, for now, I'm concentrating on Bayern Munich, and we'll see what the future holds," he said.

Contract talks and future

Kane has scored 146 goals in 147 appearances for Bayern, with his contract set to expire next summer. Barcelona is reportedly monitoring the situation, but Kane remains relaxed about extending his stay. He said: "We obviously said we wanted to talk after the World Cup and after my holiday. So I'm not sure exactly when, but they'll start this week, next week... we'll start those talks."

He added: "Obviously now is the time to start talking, because there's only a year left. That's important. But both sides are relaxed, and I'm pretty sure there'll be some talks this week or next week."

Ballon d'Or ambitions

While a Premier League return is not on his mind, Kane is targeting the Ballon d'Or. He said: "The Ballon d'Or is as big as it gets, from an individual point of view. I know I had a great season last season, but the focus is on this new season." He acknowledged the decision is out of his hands, adding: "It's now down to votes and other people and the media - stuff I can't control - so we'll see what happens."
