Manchester United are on the verge of confirming the signing of Colombian midfielder Cristian Orozco, while a Turkish report claims Galatasaray are plotting an audacious bid for captain Bruno Fernandes. The developments come as Michael Carrick prepares for his first full summer in charge, backed financially after securing Champions League football.
Orozco Announcement Imminent
United struck a deal for Fortaleza CEIF starlet Cristian Orozco last September but had to wait until July 13, when he turns 18, to register him. The formal club announcement will follow shortly after. Orozco will arrive in Manchester before that date to begin acclimatisation, including English lessons. His style has been likened to Chelsea's Moises Caicedo, and he is initially expected to join the under-21 setup, though some first-team action in the Carabao Cup is not ruled out.
Galatasaray Eye Fernandes
According to TRT Sport, Galatasaray are waiting until Portugal's World Cup campaign ends before making their interest in Fernandes official. However, the claim is considered fanciful given Fernandes's improved form under Carrick and his desire to lead the team in the Champions League. The 31-year-old's contract expires next summer but includes an option for an extra year. A move to Galatasaray appears unlikely after Fernandes nearly left for the Saudi Pro League in 2025.
Midfield Priority After Casemiro Departure
Carrick is prioritising midfield reinforcements following Casemiro's exit and longstanding shortcomings in the centre of the pitch. Ederson is already arriving from Atalanta, and United have been linked with several other midfielders. The club is also expected to strengthen other areas and could see high-profile departures.
