Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has officially revealed his new signature amplifier in partnership with Marshall, following weeks of speculation after fans spotted an unusual electric-blue amp during the band's 2026 Super Bowl performance. The new 1959BJA Artist Signature amp marks Marshall's first artist signature model in 14 years.
Amp Inspired by Armstrong's Iconic Tone and Guitar
The amplifier builds on Marshall's legendary handwired 1959HW platform and has been refined with a custom 'Dookie Mod', named after Green Day's seminal 1994 album. The modification aims to capture the punchy, aggressive guitar tone that defined the record. The amp's electric-blue colour pays tribute to Armstrong's first guitar, Blue, a sticker-covered instrument known for its blue, brass, and chrome finish. The amp also features Armstrong's signature scribble in one corner.
Exclusive Head-Only Unit
The 1959BJA is a head-only unit, allowing buyers to pair it with a cabinet of their choice. According to Marshall, the amp is designed to deliver the crunchy punk tones and extra-loud performance that Armstrong is known for. The company stated that the amp "builds on Marshall's legendary handwired 1959HW platform" while incorporating the signature modifications.
Armstrong and Marshall Express Excitement
Armstrong expressed his enthusiasm in a statement: "I'm so overjoyed to have my own signature Marshall amp. These amps have been a part of my musical life, from my heroes down to little old me. Turn it the f**k up!!" Steph Carter, Culture Marketing Director at Marshall, added: "Billie Joe's guitar sound is instantly recognisable. From the moment you hear those opening chords on Dookie, you know exactly who it is. Working with Billie to create an amp that captures that punch, aggression and clarity was an incredible project for our team."
Release Date and Pricing
The 1959BJA Billie Joe Armstrong Artist Signature amp is set for release on July 21, 2026, priced at £3,099.99. It will be available exclusively from Marshall's website.
