Arsenal are reportedly planning a £165m double swoop for Aston Villa duo Morgan Rogers and Ezri Konsa as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen his squad for the upcoming Premier League season. The Gunners, who are the reigning champions, have completed just one senior signing this summer but are accelerating talks on multiple targets.
Arsenal Target Rogers and Konsa
According to The Mirror, Arsenal's interest in Morgan Rogers is not new, but it has now emerged that they also covet his Aston Villa teammate Ezri Konsa. Both players are currently on England duty at the World Cup but could find themselves registered with the Premier League champions by the time they return.
The Telegraph reports that Villa are demanding a British record £130m fee to part with Rogers this summer. The creative talent is also reportedly wanted by Chelsea, setting up a potential bidding war. Meanwhile, The Daily Mail has outlined Arsenal's pursuit of Konsa, who can play at right-back and centre-back, especially with Ben White's future at the club uncertain.
£165m Combined Deal
Arsenal believe they can secure Konsa for around £35m, though Villa are expected to demand more for the 28-year-old. If the Gunners land Konsa at the lower end of that range, the two acquisitions would total £165m. Combined with the permanent signing of Piero Hincapie, this summer's expenditure would reach approximately £200m.
Rogers, comfortable as a No. 10 or on the flanks, could replace Leandro Trossard, who is linked with Besiktas. Gabriel Martinelli is also rumored to be leaving the Emirates.
Jeremy Monga Deal Explained
Arsenal's pursuit of Leicester City youngster Jeremy Monga has ended after Manchester City advanced in the transfer battle. City are close to securing the 16-year-old for around £10m, according to reports. Arsenal had seen a £5m bid rejected but continued negotiations before backing out once City's new manager Enzo Maresca, who previously worked with Monga at Leicester, became involved and the fee escalated.
Monga is considered a promising talent and was a standout performer for Leicester despite their relegation to League One. He could soon be making his mark in a Premier League team.
