Apple TV 4K gets Siri upgrade, remote finder, and £299 price

Apple has launched a refreshed Apple TV 4K set-top box with upgrades aimed at keeping pace with rivals like Sky. The device retains a familiar look but adds new features, including a fully integrated Siri assistant.

Smarter voice control and remote finder

The latest Siri assistant is now built into the box, allowing users to find content faster via voice commands. Requests such as recommendations, films featuring favourite stars, or box sets suggested by friends in a text message are handled automatically. Built-in microphones mean the remote no longer needs to be pressed to activate the function.

A new bonus is the ability to locate a lost remote. Saying "Hey Siri, where's the remote" triggers an in-built alarm in the rechargeable controller. This feature has been available on Sky and Amazon Fire TV Sticks for some time, addressing the common frustration of losing the accessory.

Performance and audio upgrades

An A19 processor aims to make menu scrolling, app launching, and gaming more fluid. The box is fully compatible with 4K content and supports major streaming services, including Netflix, Apple TV, BBC iPlayer, and Disney+.

For an improved viewing experience, the device can connect to up to four HomePod speakers, including the newly announced HomePod mini. This setup creates multi-dimensional audio around the room. The box also plays music, syncs with Apple Watch and Fitness+ for workouts, and controls smart home devices such as cameras.

Price and availability

The new Apple TV 4K has increased in price, starting at £299. It goes on sale soon.
