Glasgow foodies are celebrating as popular US fast-food chain Wingstop confirms the opening date for its new branch at Glasgow Fort. The countdown is on for June 22, when the chicken wing specialist will officially open its doors.
Fourth Glasgow Location
This will be the fourth Wingstop in Glasgow, joining existing outlets at St Enoch Centre, Silverburn, and Scotland Street. It also brings the total number of Wingstop locations in Scotland to nine, with branches in Aberdeen, Livingston, Fife, and two in Edinburgh (St James Quarter and Fountain Park).
Chain's UK Expansion
Founded in 1994 in Garland, Texas, Wingstop now operates over 1,500 restaurants worldwide, including in the US, Mexico, Colombia, Panama, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, the UK, France, and the UAE. The chain began its UK expansion in 2018 and currently has around 67 branches nationwide. It first arrived in Scotland in 2021 with an Edinburgh outlet and quickly became a fan favourite.
Excitement Among Foodies
Glasgow Fort centre director Phil Goodman said: “Wingstop is hugely popular and a brand our shoppers have been asking to join the centre for a while. It's brilliant to finally confirm it will be joining us soon.”
When the shopping centre shared the opening date on Instagram, local foodies reacted with enthusiasm. Comments included “our next date,” “Yaaaasss Wingstop takeover,” “Countdown is on,” “FINALLYYYY,” and “I have never been more excited about something!!!!!”
Menu Expectations
While the exact menu for the Glasgow Fort branch hasn't been confirmed, fans can expect the brand's signature bold and fresh flavours, including popular items like boneless chicken wings with dry rubs such as lemon pepper, Louisiana rub, and garlic parmesan. Other favourites include milkshakes, freestyle drinks, Camden Town Beer, and churros for dessert.
