JD Wetherspoons has announced it will open two airside pubs at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona–El Prat Airport, with the first set to open in Terminal 1 on November 26. A second branch will follow in Terminal 2 in January 2027, with no official opening date or name listed yet.
Barcelona branches and menu
The first Barcelona pub will be named Sant Jordi, a nod to the celebration of Saint George's Day that takes place across Catalonia. Like the chain's Alicante branch, the menu is expected to include familiar UK favourites such as pizzas and burgers, alongside Spanish-inspired dishes and the inexpensive pints the chain is known for.
In Alicante, holidaymakers can enjoy Spanish dishes such as pan con tomate (bread with tomatoes), garlic prawns, and broken eggs served with Iberian ham. The Alicante branch opened in February.
UK airport expansion
Wetherspoons is also expanding its UK airport presence. The Belle Vue, named after Manchester's historic entertainment and sports complex, is set to open in Manchester Airport's Terminal 2 after security on September 8. It will hold up to 300 holidaymakers and open from 4am to 11pm seven days a week.
The chain recently opened The Sir Frank Whittle at Heathrow Airport on July 21, in Terminal 2, making it the third 'Spoons in the UK's busiest air hub. It has the same opening hours as the Manchester branch and offers the classic menu.
Haven holiday parks expansion
Wetherspoons has also opened four new pubs across Haven holiday parks in 2026, at Cala Gran, Hopton, Lakeland and Riviere Sands. This brings the total number of parks with a Wetherspoons to nine.
The CEO of Haven Holidays said: “I would like to see us growing this concept further across our estate. I definitely think there is an opportunity for the majority of our parks to have a Wetherspoons.”
