UK's first self-serving smoothie machine launches at Co-op

East of England Co-op has partnered with iSqueeze to introduce Smoodi, the award-winning US drink product, marking the first self-serving smoothie machine of its kind in the UK. The station, now open at the East of England Co-op's Chelmsford store, uses automation technology to prepare freshly made smoothies in 60 seconds, without the need for blenders, ice, or constant cleaning.

Healthy and allergen-free options

Smoodi offers a wide selection of healthy flavours, all vegan friendly and nut or allergen free. Available options include Strawberry & Banana, Tropical, Green Matcha, Mango Lassi, Very Berry, and Choco Boost.

Customers place a 400ml cup on the smoothie station and wait seconds for the machine to blend frozen fruit with water, creating a drink that is instantly ready.

Partnership with iSqueeze

East of England Co-op said the collaboration with iSqueeze, the UK's largest provider of fresh juice machines, has provided the opportunity to refine food-to-go services while encouraging healthy choices.

Simon Dryell, chief commercial officer for East of England Co-op, said: "We're delighted to be partnering with both iSqueeze and Smoodi. At the East of England Co-op, product innovation has always been a core priority for us. So, it's great to be able to invest in a system that directly benefits the community when it comes to both convenience and healthy eating. We look forward to seeing how Smoodi grows within our Food stores in the future."

Future of on-the-go smoothies

Elias Ebert, managing director for iSqueeze, said: "We identified a huge gap in the market for freshly made smoothies, ready in seconds, created by Co-op customers themselves using the latest self-service technology. This is the future of smoothies on-the-go, empowering healthy habits for consumers."
