The new limited-edition menu is designed to inject a burst of colour and flavour into the grey winter season, featuring a range of dishes that are typically found in more upscale independent eateries. Highlights include Turkish-style eggs, smoked salmon bagel plates, and even a unique rhubarb crumble shake. Other additions to the menu are a honeycomb latte and a blood orange spritz, showcasing Tesco's commitment to keeping pace with modern food trends.

These posh plates will be offered alongside popular current items such as smashed avocado on toasted sourdough and egg and chilli jam brioche rolls, ensuring there is something for every taste. A Tesco spokesperson described the new menu as "full of vibrant options to brighten up the winter months" and emphasised that it complements the café's existing fantastic offering, which includes Tesco Finest coffee, all-day breakfasts, cheese-topped toasties, lunchtime classics, and a selection of bakery items.

Reasonable Pricing and Enhanced Café Experience

Despite the upscale appeal of the dishes, Tesco has maintained reasonable pricing, making these trendy options accessible to a wider audience. Prices range from £3.95 for a breakfast bap to £9.50 for hand-battered fish and chips. The Turkish-style eggs, loaded with lemon yoghurt, fried eggs, harissa oil, coriander, and crispy onions on toasted sourdough, are priced at just £6.95, as are the fried chicken and crumpets.

In addition to the menu overhaul, Tesco is rolling out touch-screen self-service ordering at select locations to reduce queues and enhance the customer experience. The cafés themselves are being updated with softer seating and a new colour scheme, making the post-shopping recovery even more comfortable and inviting.

The new menu was announced on Instagram and will be available at Tesco's 329 café locations around the UK until March 23. Social media posts have already generated buzz, with fans praising limited-edition items like the rhubarb and custard iced matcha, describing them as "delicious" and "unreal". This move highlights Tesco's strategy to engage customers through digital platforms and offer exclusive, time-sensitive promotions.

Broader Context: Tesco's Easter Preparations

This café update comes as Tesco also unveils significant changes to its home delivery and Click+Collect services in preparation for the Easter rush. The retail behemoth is opening up access to these slots a week earlier than in previous years and adding an extra 120,000 slots to cater to increased demand. For the first time ever, Tesco will offer six weeks' worth of slots covering the entire Easter school holiday period, with bookings available from 24 February onwards until mid-April.

Jillian Lidgate, Tesco's online customer director, stated: "With 120,000 extra home delivery and Click + Collect slots available this Easter, we're making it easier for customers to plan their celebrations with great-quality products delivered direct to their door or Click+Collect location of their choice." This dual focus on in-store dining and online convenience underscores Tesco's efforts to enhance customer experience across all touchpoints during key seasonal periods.
