Tesco Announces Triple Clubcard Points Promotion for Marketplace Shoppers
Tesco has unveiled a significant new promotion for its Clubcard loyalty programme members, offering triple points on all Tesco Marketplace orders placed until April 7. This initiative provides a substantial boost to the supermarket's popular rewards system, which normally awards one Clubcard point for every £1 spent.
How the Triple Points Promotion Works
The promotion applies exclusively to Tesco Marketplace, the supermarket's online platform featuring products from third-party sellers. During the promotional period, customers will earn three points per £1 spent instead of the standard rate. These points can later be converted into vouchers, with every 100 points equating to £1 to spend in-store.
Tesco Marketplace Director Peter Filcek commented on the promotion: "There are always great deals to be had at Tesco Marketplace, but with triple points until April 7 we are sweetening the deal even more for Clubcard members. All you have to do to claim the triple Clubcard points is to place an order on Tesco Marketplace during the promotional period."
Filcek further explained that the extra points can be used toward various rewards, including dining out at restaurant chains like PizzaExpress, Prezzo, and Las Iguanas where points can be tripled in value, or for discounted cinema tickets at Cineworld.
Tesco Clubcard Tops UK Loyalty Scheme Rankings
The promotion comes as Tesco Clubcard, which now boasts over 24 million members, has been ranked as the UK's favourite loyalty scheme in the Retail Loyalty Index. The comprehensive survey involved 2,200 participants evaluating loyalty programmes at 51 major UK retailers across multiple criteria.
Shoppers were asked to rate their satisfaction with each programme, likelihood to recommend it, personalisation of rewards, and how securely retailers handle personal information. Each retailer received a score out of ten based on these factors.
Tesco Clubcard achieved first place with an impressive overall score of 8.38. Participants praised the programme as "very generous with plenty of options to redeem" and noted it makes shopping "extra affordable and easy." The supermarket also earned the highest "continue to shop" score of 9.16, with customers reporting they regularly incorporate Clubcard into their shopping routines.
Additional Tesco Developments: Staff Pay Increases
In related news, Tesco has recently announced a pay rise for hundreds of thousands of its workers, effective from March 29. Shop workers and staff at online fulfilment centres will see their hourly pay increase by 5.1% to £13.28.
Employees working within the M25 London area will receive an additional hourly allowance of £1.27, bringing their total hourly rate to £14.55. These adjustments align with the new national minimum wage and living wage rates set to take effect from April.
The combination of enhanced staff compensation and customer loyalty incentives demonstrates Tesco's ongoing commitment to both its workforce and its extensive customer base during a period of economic adjustment in the retail sector.
