Souvla has closed its restaurant at 99 Allerton Road in Mossley Hill, ending its presence on the popular South Liverpool shopping street. The business confirmed the closure in a message shared with customers.
The restaurant served Greek and Mediterranean-inspired food, with a menu featuring gyros, souvlaki, grilled meats, schnitzels and traditional sides. No reason for the Allerton Road closure has been given.
Note left on the door
In a note left on its doors, the business said: "We regret to inform our customers that we will be closing our doors. We would like to sincerely thank all our customers for their support, loyalty and wonderful memories over the years.
"It has been a pleasure serving you. Thank you for being part of our journey. With heartfelt gratitude."
City centre branch remains open
The closure affects only the Allerton Road branch. Souvla's city centre restaurant at 22 Hardman Street remains open and continues to serve customers, offering a similar Greek and Mediterranean grillhouse menu.
Other closures this week
Cheers Big Ears, the Bold Street venue, has also closed for the final time after four years of trading, having first opened in April 2022. The venue served Detroit-style pizza, small plates, sandwiches and cocktails, while its first-floor space housed the interactive games area, Tops Dart Club.
In an Instagram post shared on November 2, it was confirmed that both Cheers Big Ears and Tops Dart Club had closed as the site prepared for something new.
Lark Lane's Petit Café also announced its closure less than three years after opening in April 2024, bringing its "little chapter" in South Liverpool to an end. The venue served wines, cheeses and cocktails, following the success of its original Berry Street site, which opened in 2017.
In an Instagram post shared on November 1, the owners confirmed the closure but reassured customers the Berry Street venue would remain open and a new tenant had already been lined up.
