A 15-year-old boy has been sentenced to seven years and two months in custody after breaking into a woman's home and raping her before burgling a second property in Nuneaton, Warwickshire.
The teenager, from London, carried out the attack at a house in Nuneaton earlier this year. Shortly afterwards, he broke into another nearby property, where he stole the keys to a car.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested and remanded in custody following the incidents. He pleaded guilty to two counts of rape and one count of burglary.
Additional offences admitted
He also admitted to a further burglary and theft of a motor vehicle in connection with the second incident, which were taken into consideration by the court.
Appearing at Coventry Crown Court on Thursday (November 5), the teenager was sentenced to seven years and two months in custody.
Police praise victim's bravery
Detective Chief Inspector Martyn Kendall, of Warwickshire Police, praised the bravery of the victim following the sentencing.
He said: "I want to take this chance to highlight the bravery of the woman who was subjected to this horrific attack."
"I know nothing can take away what happened, but I hope that this outcome at least brings some peace to her."
Warwickshire Police has not disclosed the exact date or location of the attack due to court-imposed reporting restrictions designed to protect the victim's identity.
