Home Bargains Shoppers Rush for New 'Banging' Walkers Crisps Flavour
Shoppers Rush for New Walkers Crisps Flavour at Home Bargains

Home Bargains shoppers are rushing to get their hands on a new Walkers crisp flavour that has been hailed as 'banging' by early tasters. The new variety, Walkers Max Portuguese Chorizo and Onion, has appeared on shelves at the discount retailer, sparking excitement among crisp enthusiasts.

New Flavour Sparks Excitement

As summer approaches and picnic season beckons, many are looking to move beyond traditional flavours like ready salted, cheese and onion, and salt and vinegar. The new Walkers offering seems to be the perfect choice for those seeking something different. Social media users have been quick to share their enthusiasm, with one declaring, 'I tried these today,' accompanied by a thumbs-up emoji. Another wrote, 'I'll definitely be giving these a go!' while a third tagged a friend, urging, 'We need to try these ASAP.'

Spelling Controversy

Not everyone was impressed, however. Some critics took issue with the flavour's name, pointing out that the Portuguese sausage is properly called 'chouriço,' not 'chorizo,' which is the Spanish term. One commenter fumed, 'Wow. It's chouriço, not chorizo!' Another noted, 'Chorizo? It's Portuguese, not Spanish.' While Portuguese chouriço shares some similarities with Spanish chorizo, it is distinct: chouriço is smoked and fully cooked, often made with pork, garlic, wine, and piri-piri, and can be eaten straight from the packet or used in stews. Spanish chorizo, on the other hand, is typically cured and air-dried, with a heavier emphasis on smoked paprika.

Other Supermarket Excitement

Walkers is not the only brand generating buzz. Morrisons customers have been thrilled by a new Mr Kipling creation: Birthday Cake Slices. The product, priced at £3 for a pack of eight, features light sponge cake with plum and raspberry jam, topped with fondant icing and sprinkles. Made with natural flavours and no artificial colours, it has received rave reviews on the New Foods UK website, with shoppers exclaiming, 'Gosh, I need to try these,' and 'We need these immediately.'

Whether you are a crisp connoisseur or a cake lover, there is plenty to look forward to this summer. Will you be trying the new Walkers flavour? Share your thoughts with us.
