Shopper Fuming Over Grammar Error on The Range Plaque

A shopper who bought a wall plaque from The Range was left unimpressed after spotting a grammatical error in the design. The item, called the 'It's Good To Be Home Mirrored Plaque', cost £5.99 and features a faux postcard design.

The customer, named Han, said she did not notice the mistake while shopping in the store. It was only when she got home and looked closely that she saw the issue. On the right-hand side of the postcode area, the print reads: "The address to be write here," which should say "written".

Customer Contacted The Range

Han explained on TikTok that she had contacted The Range's customer service about the error, describing it as an "unusual query". She said she was "no English teacher" but was fairly sure the sentence was not correct.

She wrote: "I know that mistakes happen and I'm not usually one to nitpick, but I have to ask...how did this make it through the design stage, proofreading, printing, and onto the shelves without anyone noticing it?"

She added: "The print is lovely, but I now have what can only be described as a grammatical crime scene hanging in my house. Every time I look at it, I have more questions than answers."

Social Media Reaction

Han said she was not necessarily "complaining" but wanted to know if anyone else had pointed out the same issue. She urged staff at The Range to take her comments in the "lighthearted spirit it's intended".

In the comments on her video, people said others had also posted on social media about the error. One commenter, who said they work in marketing and proofreading, wrote: "As someone who works in marketing and proofreads a lot of things to be signed off for print, you’d be surprised at what gets missed by multiple people. And the things I’ve missed in the past."

The Range Responds

A spokesperson for The Range said: "Hands up, our grammar needs a little wrapping up! This one should, of course, say ‘address to be written here’, and we’re putting it ‘write’ on the next batch."

They added: "With the current stock almost sold out, we’re hoping customers will forgive us a few words out of place."
