Sachins, a popular Indian restaurant in Newcastle, has announced it will reduce prices on several dishes to reflect year 2000 levels. The promotion runs from August 31 until September 14, the day after this year's Great North Run.
Menu prices rolled back for two weeks
The Forth Banks eatery, a long-time favourite among Geordies and a regular stop for concertgoers at the nearby Utilita Arena, will offer starters such as murgh pakora and paneer pakora for as little as £4.95. Mains will include butter chicken at £8.95, king prawn bhuna at £9.95, and rogan josh at £6.50. Sides are also included, with naan breads and rice priced at £1.95 each.
Birthday celebration announcement
Sachins revealed the promotion on Facebook, writing: 'WE’RE TURNING THE PRICES BACK TO 2000! To celebrate our birthday next month, we dug out our menu from the year 2000 and spotted something: so many of the dishes we served then are still on our menu today. They’ve stood the test of time. So, for two weeks, we’re giving them their 2000 prices back.'
The deal marks a return to prices from 26 years ago, offering diners a chance to enjoy the restaurant's classic dishes at a reduced cost for a limited period.
